Hi! I’m Char.

I’m Char. A Londoner, a Leo, and always lemon and herb at Nando’s.

I became a celebrant because it felt like the perfect collision of everything I love most: storytelling, ritual, joy and people. At university, I studied Theology and wrote my dissertation on how secularism is transforming ceremonies from archaic, one-size-fits-all rituals into deeply personal, emotionally raw occasions. And we LOVE to see it.

I believe people still crave ceremony; they just want it to genuinely reflect who they are… and maybe not be so patriarchal and just generally outdated. There. I said it!

Before celebrancy, I worked in culture, wellbeing, and communications at Dr. Martens, an ad agency, and one of the Big Four. I’ve always been creative, a comfortable public speaker and endlessly fascinated by the people around me. “Miss Inquisitive” has followed me my whole life, that’s how I knew celebrancy was my calling.

Outside of all that I’m mom to Moose, my mildly evil tabby, girlfriend to Katy and a regular at M&S Croydon’s yellow sticker section. I’m loosely considering a marathon and I cycle through hyperfixations – lately Concorde, attachment theory and Zara Larsson. I’m anti-racist, a passionate LGBTQIA+ ally and someone who truly believes people – in all their messy, funny, complicated humanity – are endlessly wonderful.

Say hello!
